口译是听、说、读、写、译的综合体现和升华，口译不仅体现了一个人的英语水平，而且体现了一个人的中文造诣、思维、表达、反应、学术功底等多方面的功底。相对口译考试中的笔译来说，口试难度更高，因为笔译是写在纸上，你有很多机会可以去想，去修改，而说出来的话是没有修改的机会的。
中级口译和高级口译的口试区别，主要在句子长度。一般高级口译中的长句多，段落长。事实上在口译现场，在事先不知道试题主要内容的前提下，考生在开始听第一句话的时候往往反应不过来的，听第二句话时才能根据上下文正确理解第一句话的主要内容，这就要求考生具备较强的记忆力，敏捷的反应，以及扎实的语言基本功。
